Joe Henry : genius of comeback!

Hi fellas, it's been a loooong time since my last post, but I was kind of busy these days (3 month-old daughter, knuwwhatimean?). But I think it's time to talk about Joe Henry's last effort to help soul all-stars on their comeback.

After Solomon Burke and Betty LaVette,  Mr Henry gathers a bunch of soul legends, among them some being forgotten, let's be honnest : Allen Toussaint, Irma Thomas, Mavis Staples, Ann Peebles, and last but not least the Billy "Fifth Beatle" Preston (RIP)...

Kind of "Buena Vista Social Club" of the soul music, y'know?

The result is quite brilliant, actually : the record sounds like it was engineered  in 1969, and the songs sound so good. Maybe it lacks of one or two tunes that could become hits... That's not the point right here : those singers ain't no divas like Aretha or James : they used to be known as a part of band, not as solo stars!

This record really worth you giving some interest, don't hesitate to hear it time after time...

I really see Joe Henry as the ultimate soul producer these days, what do you think?
